JACQUELINE POINDEXTER

Jacqueline Poindexter is a celebrated singer, songwriter, and producer whose career spans several decades as a member of the legendary songwriting and recording family known as The Poindexters. Alongside her late husband Robert Poindexter and family member Richard Poindexter, The Poindexters became one of the most respected songwriting and production teams of the 1960s, 1970s, and beyond, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of R&B;, soul, and popular music.

Widely regarded as cultural icons of their era, comparable to the influence of legendary songwriting and production teams such as Gamble and Huff, The Poindexters wrote and produced numerous recordings for some of the most recognized artists in music history. Their work contributed to the success of acclaimed groups and performers including The Persuaders, The O’Jays, The Manhattans, Linda Jones, Sam & Dave, Dee Dee Warwick, and even collaborations involving the renowned poet and activist Maya Angelou, among many others.

The Poindexters’ songwriting legacy continues to resonate across generations. Their catalog has been sampled, covered, and celebrated by internationally recognized artists including Jay-Z, John Legend, Amy Winehouse, Annie Lennox, andmany more. Their timeless compositions remain influential and continue to inspire both established and emerging artists throughout the music industry.

Following the passing of her husband and longtime creative partner, Robert Poindexter, in 2018, Jacqueline has remained dedicated to preserving and expanding the family’s extraordinary musical legacy. She continues to write and compose music regularly, collaborating with members of her family and creative team while introducing the Poindexter catalog to new audiences.

In recent years, Jacqueline’s work has continued to receive recognition from a new generation of artists. Rap icon Schoolboy Q featured a cover of one of The Poindexters’ compositions, “Grammarly 86,” on his acclaimed album Blue Lips, a project associated with the creative influence of Kendrick Lamar.

Reaffirming her place as both a songwriter and performer, Jacqueline recently returned to the stage, making her debut appearance as a featured vocalist at the prestigious Cutting Room in Manhattan, New York. She also co-produced, alongside Music For Life Productions, a new video interpretation of the classic song Thin Line from a female perspective entitled BackStory.

Today, Jacqueline Poindexter continues to build upon one of music’s most enduring legacies, combining decades of songwriting excellence with new creative ventures, live performances, and collaborations that bridge generations of soul, R&B;, and contemporary music.

Fred Simmons is an accomplished producer, arranger, songwriter, and musician whose passion for music and exceptional talent have defined his career from an early age. Recognized as a musical prodigy, Fred began his formal training at just 15 years old, studying at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City and further developing his craft at the Manhattan School of Music.

Rooted in faith and inspired by the rich tradition of gospel music, Fred has dedicated years of service as a musician and performer in churches throughout New York and Long Island. His ministry includes performances and musical leadership at In the Word Ministry, First Baptist Church of Wyandanch, The Church of Revelations, Hollywood Baptist Church in Amityville, and Jesus Holiness Church in Wyandanch, where his musicianship has touched countless lives.

As a versatile creative force, Fred has shared the stage and collaborated with an impressive roster of respected artists and musicians, including Debbie Napper, Vinyl Revival, Gus Colletti, and Prentis McNiel of the world-famous Drifters, showcasing his ability to move effortlessly between gospel, soul, R&B, and contemporary music.

Fred’s talent has also earned him the opportunity to work alongside legendary songwriter Jacqueline Poindexter, the celebrated co-writer of the timeless classic “A Thin Line Between Love and Hate.” Through these collaborations, he has continued to refine a signature sound that honors the legacy of classic soul while embracing modern musical innovation.

Today, Fred Simmons is actively collaborating with major producers, songwriters, and music industry professionals, creating music that bridges generations and genres. About Us

Angel Paniagua Musical

A native New Yorker, Angel Paniagua began playing guitar at age 12 under the guidance of his brother Bob, a professional guitarist. During his high school years, he performed with several bands. In 1967, he joined Kenny Simmons to form Kenny and the Diamonds, and in 1968 the group won the New York City Sound Search Best Band competition, earning a recording contract with Bell Records. In 1969, he teamed up with Bobby and Richard Poindexter, along with Jackie Members, a songwriting team known for work with the O’Jays, the Manhattans, and Linda Jones with a major breakout hit with the Persuaders – Thin Line Between Love and Hate. With more than 60 years of guitar playing behind him, he has built an impressive career.

Career Highlights

1968 – Kenny and the Diamonds won the New York City Sound Search Best Band competition, earning a recording contract with Bell Records.

1970 – Recorded with The Persuaders as guitarist for Young, Gifted and Bad. The Poindexter Brothers featured the acclaimed R&B vocal group The Persuaders on their 1971 landmark album Thin Line Between Love and Hate, with Young, Gifted and Bad providing the rhythm section at Atlantic Records.

1972 – Recorded with the Intensive Heat Band at Atlantic Studios in New York City alongside the legendary Jimmy “The Senator” Douglass, a five-time Grammy-winning mixing engineer, recording engineer, and record producer.

Guitar Sampling – His guitar tracks have been sampled by artists including Will Smith, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Kanye West, and ScHoolboy Q.

Other Notable Recordings – King Curtis’s final album, recordings with Sam Moore of Sam & Dave, and work with Dee Dee Warwick, sister of Dionne Warwick.
